In each class I verbally guide you through a series of gentle movement sequences that are done lying on the floor, sitting or sometimes standing. Each lesson is precisely crafted to improve basic functions in everyday movements such as, reaching, rolling, flexing, extending, twisting, side-bending, sitting, standing or walking.  Awareness Through Movement lessons vary in difficulty and complexity and generally last from 45 to 60 minutes. All ages and movement abilities are welcome to attend class. (Prerequisite: must be able to safely lie down on the floor and return to standing.)

Through gentle touch, inquiry and verbal guidance,  I'll direct  your attention to different parts of yourself, so you can begin to sense and refine new pathways of movement that are   less stressful on your body.

During a lesson you're fully clothed  and most often lying on a table, sitting or sometimes standing. I'll often use  various props to support you and to help facilitate the lesson. Your comfort and sense of safety throughout the session is paramount, so you're available to sense, feel, think and move at your own pace.

 

A  Feldenkrais lesson is more than treating the symptom or the part that hurts. I help you discover a clear sense of support and new organization throughout yourself, so no one part works harder than another. By learning to include more of yourself into each action you can rediscover your innate capacity for graceful and efficient movement.

Who comes for a Private Session?

I work with people who suffer from a wide range of issues, including back, neck, hip and foot pain, stiff shoulders, scoliosis, people who want to improve their posture, balance, coordination or enhance their performance in the activities they love.
